General Problems.

  1. Please install the latest version at http://tubemate.net
    YouTube changes frequently.
    Some of these changes require changes of TubeMate.
    So, you need to keep the latest version of TubeMate.
  2. Please wait the release of fixed version
    I always try to react the changes of YouTube rapidly.
    But sometimes it takes time.
    Please wait a couple of days for the fixed version.
  3. Please install TubeMate from the verified sites at http://tubemate.net
    There are so many fake and modified TubeMates out there.
    They doesn’t work properly.
    Some of them contain virus or spam.
    Please get the real TubeMate at http://tubemate.net
  4. Please clear local cache.
    TubeMate uses web browser in Android.
    Sometimes It requires clearing cache to work properly.

I can’t download anything.

  1. Did you get the error : EACCES (Permission denied) ?

    You can change download folder in the preferences.

  2. Please check whether you have enough storage.
    In most cases, it is caused from “not enough storage”.
    Please delete unnecessary files and try again.

I can’t download HD videos.

  1. Please install the latest version at http://tubemate.net
    It could be caused from the change of YouTube.
    I always try to publish fixed versions as soon as possible.
    If you keep the latest version, It will be fixed soon.
  2. Many videos don’t have HD qualities.
    You can try to search “HD” keyword to check you can download HD videos.

How can I download videos to SD card.

By default, video files are saved into ‘/mnt/sdcard/Video’ and ‘/mnt/sdcard/mp3′
In most recent devices, they might be located in the internal storage.
You can change download folder in the preferences.

But the location of SD card depends on the device and Android version.
Here are some examples.

* KitKat(4.4) users : Please install the latest version at http://tubemate.net
Google blocked sdcard acccess of general applications. You can download only on the internal storage and the specific area of sdcard.
I recommend to download videos to the internal storage.
If your internal storage runs out, you can use “Move To”  instead (TubeMate 2.2.2 required)

I can hear but I can’t watch.

If You play video on YouTube website directly with a Android 4.4(KitKat) device, it could happen.
It is a known bug of some Android 4.4 (KitKat) devices.

Please install the latest version of TubeMate at http://tubemate.net
It has the option “Play on Page” in the preferences.
You can turn off “Play on Page”, when you can hear but you can’t watch.
I hope Google and device manufacturers fix the problem.

P.S. Google messed up so many things on Android 4.4(KitKat)
It is not recommended to upgrade to Android 4.4(KitKat).

How can I remove weird captions?

TubeMate 2.0 downloads caption file on YouTube by default.
Videos with captions have the “CC” mark.
But there are so many messy captions on YouTube.
You can remove captions easily.

  1. I can’t install TubeMate
    1) First, please check installation guide at http://m.tubemate.net/help/install.jsp
    2) Please check whether there is enough space to download the installation file(.apk).
    3) If you already have TubeMate, please uninstall it first. Please see http://m.tubemate.net/help
    4) Please check whether there is enough space for applications. Android has a separated storage for applications. So, if it gets full, you should uninstall less-used applications or move them to sdcard.
    5) If you can’t push install button :
    Did you install screen filter apps like “2x Battery” or “Screen Filter”?
    There is the report that such apps can block the installation of other applications by the bug of Android. Please uninstall them and try again.
  2. Why does update dialog show up again even though I updated it?
    You could have two TubeMates – old one and new one.
    You might run the old one by mistake.
    Please uninstall them and install the latest version at http://tubemate.net.

  3. I got disconnected while downloading.
    Various reasons causes it.
    1) The poor connectivity between youtube and android device. (Transport endpoint is not connected, Socket is not connected, Connection timed out, …)
    It is the known issue of android platform from which every application suffers. 
    If you are suffering from it too frequently, I recommend you turn off “fast download mode” in the preferences.
    2) Killed by Android OS. (The job is no longer available)
    Android kills background applications automatically when it requires more memory.
    If it happens frequently, please Don’t launch other applications while downloading.
    3) Not enough storage
    When you don’t have enough storage, downloading stops automatically. 
    Fast downloading requires more memories to merge fragments into a file. 
    You can try to turn off ‘fast download mode’ in the preferences.
    4) Broken network (Broken routing)
    It is the problem of the network between your device and youtube.
    You can try to turn off and on your device, then try again.
  4. Downloading speed is too slow.
    Basically download speed depends on the condition of the network. TubeMate just maximizes network utilization with multiple connections. 
    1) Please turn off ‘fast download mode’ in the preferences and try again. 
    ‘Fast download mode’ could be worse on bad network condition.
    2) Please adjust the options for fast downloading at the preferences.
  5. Failed to play downloaded video.
    TubeMate just downloads video files encoded by YouTube. TubeMate doesn’t convert them. But some devices doesn’t support playing high resolutions and FLV from YouTube.
    1) Please try the lowest resolution (e.g. 320×240).
    Some devices doesn’t support high resolutions or some file formats(e.g. FLV)
    2) Please reboot your device.
    Sometimes the video player on Android becomes a mess.
    You need to reboot your device in this case.

    3) Please Try 3rd party video players like ‘MX Player’, ‘Mobo Player’ and ‘Soul Movies’
    * Video players supporting software decoding could fix the problem.
    4) Please wait until downloading and merging are completed
    ‘Fast download mode’ requires merging fragments into a file. If you play the video before downloading is completed, it can cause an error.
    5) Please delete the file and re-download it.
    Data could be broken while downloading because mobile network is not that stable.
    6) Are you downloading other videos?
    If you play a video while downloading other videos – many vidoes, it makes your storage overloaded. It can cause an error on playing. If you turn off ‘fast download mode’, it will be alleviated.
  6. I can’t find videos on TubeMate which is shown on YouTube in the PC
    TubeMate uses mobile YouTube(http://m.youtube.com) and YouTube restricts some videos in the mobile mode.
    So, TubeMate provides ‘Desktop Mode’.
    You can choose it by choosing ‘menu > desktop mode’ on your device.

    But, Be careful! ‘Desktop mode’ can make your device extremely slow.
